A public workshop to provide information and solicit comments on a pending Call for Projects for the Measure K Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Safe Routes to School Competitive Program and the Measure K Smart Growth Incentive Program is planned for Tuesday, August 22nd at 10 a.m., in the SJCOG Board Room located at 555 E. Weber Avenue, Stockton. Measure K Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Safe Routes to School/Smart Growth Workshop Flyer

Measure K is the voter approved ½ cent transportation sales tax for San Joaquin County. The sales tax provides funding for a variety of transportation projects, including funding for bicycle, pedestrian, and Safe Routes to School infrastructure and programs throughout San Joaquin County. Measure K also dedicates $65 million for the Smart Growth Incentive Program, which provides funding for public infrastructure investments that support neighborhood and downtown revitalization and facilitate infill development to assist local agencies in integrating transportation and land use.

As part of the adoption of the 2017 Measure K Strategic Plan, the SJCOG Board approved the concept of a combined Call for Projects for the Measure K Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Safe Routes to School Competitive Program and the Smart Growth Incentive Program in fall 2017. A total of $19.8 million will be available for programming in Fiscal Years 2017/18 through 2020/21.

SJCOG staff are preparing the draft guidelines and application form for this Call for Projects and will present them at the workshop. Comments can be made at the workshop and via email before the adoption of the final guidelines and the start of the Call for Projects in September.

Please contact David Ripperda, Associate Regional Planner, at ripperda@sjcog.org or 209-235-0450 with any questions on the workshop and program.
