A webinar Forecasting Growth and Change: Exploring Future California and the NSJV on forecasting the state and region’s demographic changes and their impacts will be noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 2.

The insightful webinar is presented by the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG), University of the Pacific Center for Business and Policy Research (CBPR), and the North Valley THRIVE Initiative. Speakers for the session include Somjita Mitra, chief economist of the state Department of Finance’s Forecasting Unit, Walter Schwarm, chief demographer of the state Department of Finance’s Forecasting Unit, and Thomas Pogue, CBPR executive director.

This session will focus on significant shifts in population trends over the next 25 years and what they mean for the region’s workforce, health care system, and economic growth. The speaker panel will break down key forecasts and discuss critical topics, including the aging population, workforce development, and interregional migration patterns. This is an opportunity to gain valuable insights and engage in discussions shaping the future of the North San Joaquin Valley and beyond.
