Active Transportation

SJCOG works hard to increase walking and biking options across our region. The ATP program consolidates various federal and state transportation programs into a single program with a focus on increased use of active modes of transportation. It allows cities, the county, transit and other public agencies to compete for grants to build bicycle/pedestrian paths, install bike racks, and other programs/projects that make biking or walking easier, safer, and more convenient.

Transit Planning

SJCOG works with transit operators, the region’s transportation planning agencies, and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to develop goals, objectives, plans, and policies to provide effective and sustainable transit options for the region.

Dibs: Smart Travel. Your Way

dibs (formerly Commute Connection) is a program of SJCOG serving San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced counties. It was established to promote and encourage smart travel through carpooling, vanpooling, riding transit, walking, & biking. The program's core focus is to reduce single occupant vehicle commutes, thus reducing congestion and improving air quality.

Stockton Mobility Collective (SMC)

The Stockton Mobility Collective (SMC) project is an exciting new and transformative project aimed at improving and increasing transportation options for Stockton residents who are looking for clean, affordable ways to travel to job opportunities, school(s), doctor's appointments, grocery stores and other key destinations.

Electric Carsharing

An electric carsharing service project funded by a state Clean Mobility Options grant aims to provide affordable access to electric vehicles at convenient locations in San Joaquin County. This project will advance social equity by offering residents in disadvantaged communities’ access to clean, affordable and convenient transportation options.

Bike San Joaquin

Regional Transit Systems Plan (RTSP)

The Regional Transit Systems Plan (RTSP) is a long-range transit plan that looks at bus and rail transit needs, their related costs, and details a financial forecast of anticipated funding through year 2024.

Regional Mobility Hub Plan

The San Joaquin Regional Mobility Hub Plan will guide the implementation of a mobility hub network throughout the region, focusing on hubs near affordable housing to improve multi-modal connectivity and reduce vehicle miles traveled, with a demonstration project slated for opening in June 2026.

Unmet Transit Needs (UTN) Assessment

The California State Transportation Development Act (TDA) requires the Unmet Transit Needs (UTN) Process be conducted annually by Regional Transportation Planning Agencies.

San Joaquin Regional Climate Collaborative

The San Joaquin Regional Climate Collaborative will complete various projects with several nonprofit partners to improve climate education and resiliency. These projects will include creating educational workshops, a clearinghouse, community surveys, and more.
