Industry Overview
Thanks to its strategic transportation access points within the Northern California Megaregion, San Joaquin County is expanding its reputation as the premier setting for corporate warehouse and logistics, especially in Lathrop and Tracy. The presence of a deep-water port and a cargo-centric airport in Stockton help make San Joaquin even more attractive for the industry.
Some notable companies with distribution centers include Ashley Furniture, Medline, Lowe's, Ryder, John Deere, UPS, and many more. This industry alone employs more than 20,000 workers in San Joaquin County. For more information, check out the latest speaker series on San Joaquin County's changing workforce.
Amazon Fulfillment Centers
Online retail giant Amazon has two fulfillment centers in Tracy and one in Stockton, with a second location announced for Stockton. There is also an Amazon Prime delivery center in Manteca, allowing residents in Stockton, Tracy, Manteca, Modesto, Lathrop, and Ripon same-day shipping on some items. Amazon has greatly contributed to Stockton Metropolitan Airport's growth as an air cargo center and is now one of San Joaquin County's top private employers.
