Notice of Public Hearings
In March, the San Joaquin Council of Governments issued a call for proposed
amendments to the
2007 Measure K Ordinance and Expenditure Plan.
San Joaquin County voters passed the Measure K Ordinance and Expenditure
Plan in 1990 establishing and implementing a ½-cent sales tax for
transportation purposes up to year 2011.
Because the Ordinance covers a period of 20-years, there the Ordinance
and Expenditure Plan allows for consideration of amendments only once a
fiscal year. This provision builds more flexibility in the Measure K
Program and allows Measure K to be responsive to unforeseen
circumstances that have surfaced since 1990.
Two public hearings are scheduled to take place at the San Joaquin
Council of Governments Board meeting on May 22, 2008 and June 28, 2008
at 5 p.m. at 555 East Weber Avenue, Stockton, CA 95202.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact Wil Ridder,
Senior Regional Planner, at (209) 468-3913.
