San Joaquin One Voice®
San Joaquin One Voice® is SJCOG’s regional advocacy effort that assembles a public-private delegation to visit our Congressional and federal departmental representatives in Washington, D.C. The goal of this effort is to educate Congressional and federal departmental representatives on federal funding and regulatory relief needs, issues, and projects of regional significance to the San Joaquin region. The San Joaquin One Voice® delegation members also receive first-hand information on grants and other funding available to meet our regional priority needs.

The dates for the 2017 San Joaquin One Voice® are April 30-May 4, 2017

One Voice, Inc. is a 501(c) (3), public benefit non-profit corporation established to receive sponsorships and contributions for One Voice®.

Sponsorships are still being accepted (through April 14). Your support will help raise the visibility of visibility of unfunded transportation needs such as roadway improvements, grade separations, transit capital, and airport improvement projects in San Joaquin County. 2017 Sponsorship Form

The One Voice® Approach
The One Voice® approach is positively recognized and viewed as a means of helping our elected federal representatives to prioritize and shepherd needed projects through the federal budget process.

This is the 17th annual trip for SJCOG. Our efforts are positively recognized at the federal level and we have been encouraged to continue our collaborative approach and build upon the relationships and communications established with our federal representatives.

In addition to federal dollars, we have also focused on specific policies. Participants have testified at committee hearings on water, educated Congress and the Administration on the housing crisis (leading to federal assistance), and worked with Members on the introduction of legislation.

Although Congress stopped earmarking funds in 2010, the federal government still distributes hundreds of billions of dollars through formula and discretionary programs. The San Joaquin One Voice® group takes this opportunity to receive counsel from legislators, legislative staff, and the administration about the various federal programs and how we can successfully compete in the grant process.
