(BP-SRTS) Measure K Funding Program

Manteca Tidewater BikewayDuring the first 20-years MK term, Measure K awarded approximately $7,640,981 to bicycle projects in San Joaquin County.  These projects included improving existing bicycle facilities and/or planning, developing, and construction new facilities.  Funding for bicycle projects was allocated to two categories; a competitive category and a non-competitive category.  Forty percent (60%) of the funds were allocated to the local jurisdiction and according to their proportionate share of the total incorporated and unincorporated population every four years. Sixty percent (40%) was allocated according to a competitive grant process every two years.

In November 2006, San Joaquin County voters decided to extend Measure K for an additional 30 years.  The extension also expanded the existing Bicycle Funding Program to include pedestrian and safe routes to school projects.  New policies and procedures to reflect the change are currently being developed and include an advisory and ad-hoc committee.
