PROGRAMS & PROJECTS> Habitat

Preserves

Mitigating for the habitat impacts caused by most development projects in San Joaquin County, staff finds willing landowners who are open to the Idea of a Conservation Easement.  SJCOG, Inc. Conservation Easements run in perpetuity and protect the land from ever being developed.  The main restrictions of our easements are urban development and the conversion of row and field crops to any type of permanent crops (permanent crops are known not to be suitable habitat for the species that are covered by the Plan).
