San
Joaquin Valley Blueprint Planning Process
An important and historic opportunity for San Joaquin
County residents is underway through the San Joaquin Valley
Blueprint Process—to weigh in on how we want our region to grow
and prosper in the future to the year 2050. We have the chance
to help shape the future of where we live—for the benefit of our
children, our grandchildren, and ourselves—by planning NOW for
what is to come.
The San Joaquin County Regional Blueprint Vision represents San Joaquin
County's contribution to the larger, on-going San Joaquin Valley Blueprint
Planning Process.
Planning for the Future of our Region
Accommodating a projected ONE MILLION more people by the
year 2050 presents many challenges that we need to work
together to address, including:
- How should we grow?
- Where should we grow?
- How will we travel around the region?
- How will growth affect our environment?
- How will growth impact our overall quality of life?
The Blueprint Process The Blueprint process started in 2005
with an historic commitment from the Governor to support efforts to
protect and revitalize the San Joaquin Valley with “The California
Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley.” This was followed by
unprecedented regional cooperation by the Valley’s eight counties to
participate in an effort to plan for the future of the region.
Blueprint Workshops
The San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) held two rounds of
workshops to allow the public and interested stakeholders the
opportunity to develop the Blueprint for San Joaquin County. The
interactive public workshops were designed to allow participants to roll
up their sleeves and express opinions regarding the future of San
Joaquin County.
Partners
The San Joaquin County Blueprint Planning Process is part of the larger
